Discover Llandrindod Wells Holiday Destinations

Set out on a remarkable adventure through the breathtaking landscapes of Britain and beyond, where you’ll experience the enchanting beauty and allure of our holiday destinations.

Llandrindod Wells

Llandrindod Wells, or ‘Landod’ as it is known to locals, is Wales’ most central town and the administrative centre of Powys. It is one of the largest market towns in the area, holding an open-air market once a week on a Friday, and is a thriving conference and business meeting destination.

The bandstand in Temple Gardens and several of the local hotels stand as testament to the identity of Llandrindod Wells as a typical Victorian Spa Town. This heritage is paid tribute to by the famous annual Victorian Festival. One week in August every year sees the town transformed into a Dickensian wonderland where penny farthings replace cars and baseball caps are swapped for bonnets.
Most of the town’s architecture dates from the boom periods of the Victorian and Edwardian eras when ornate hotels and shops were built, including the Metropole and the Glen Usk hotels and the Albert Hall theatre. There are also buildings in the Art Deco style including two striking former garages.
The 13-acre Llandrindod Lake, an unexpected feature of the town with a magnificent dragon statue at its centre, is a perfect place for a gentle stroll

At the top there is one of the world’s largest camera obscuras, which offers a panoramic view of 1,000 square miles including the countryside, the town and Cardigan Bay

Hay Castle has opened to visitors for the first time in it’s 900 year history and is free to enter although exhibitions held at the castle carry a small charge. It also hosts the annual Hay Festival of Literature & the Arts held between May and June. There are also plenty of galleries, antique shops cafes, pubs and restaurants

Llandeilo is located on the River Tywi with plenty of Georgian and Victorian buildings. One of the town’s main features is St Teilo’s church, rebuilt in the 1850’s although the tower dates back to medieval times. The churchyard and site has a longer history which goes back to the sixth century. There are also lots of stylish galleries, boutiques café bars and restaurants. It’s great to combine with a visit to Dinefwr Estate and Carreg Cennen Castle.

Shopping in Llandeilo is an absolute pleasure, this colourful, picturesque town is scattered with an array of numerous small independent shops, boasting one of the best destinations for shopping in Wale
