Be part of something historic and discover Sussex rural history through the seasons, in the heart of the picturesque South Downs. See what rural living was like with over a 1,000 years of history to explore, and over 50 relocated historic houses covering the 40 acre site. Whether you are 5 or 95 there is something for everyone Rural life is at the core of the Museum’s storytelling. See the working and traditional farm animals, wander through historic gardens and learn how plants and herbs were used for medicine, cosmetics and colognes Sense the immense power of the water mill, imagine being a pupil in a Victorian classroom or feel the heat from the roaring fire in a Tudor kitchen. You can find our café at the main entrance to the Museum. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxing lunch overlooking the millpond and watermill. The Museum’s Court Barn from Lee-on-the-Solent is home to BBC’s The Repair Shop series and is closed for private hire (filming). Whilst the production team are busy filming for the TV show, the area around the barn is closed to the public, however you might be able to take a glimpse of the team in action. We politely ask our visitors to stay behind the barriers and not to take photographs or film them whilst they are working.
